Pakistani musician Atif Aslam narrates stories of his childhood in his new album ‘Meri Kahani’. While Atif’s last album ‘Doorie’ was peppered with his characteristic style of melody, the new album promises to be a fresh approach. Atif wants to tap the teen audience through his latest album. “The album is very personal and close to my heart. The album also supports a lot of underground bands from Pakistan who do not get the kind of opportunity they deserve,” he explains. A lot of Pakistani musicians have followed his footsteps. But quiz him on the kind of work he does and the singer looks at it as a positive growth. “I think we are still coming up with original music which is very unique to Pakistani musicians. I can only see it progressing from here,” he says, adding that Bollywood musicians copying his style doesn’t affect him at all. The other project that Atif is overwhelmed about is this Hollywood film ‘Man push Cart’ by an Iranian director which has won the prestigious Feprisci critics award and also made it to the Venice Film Festival.“The director’s inspiration for the film came from my songs. It tracks the life of a musician who is unable to make it big in Pakistan and moves to the US where he sells doughnuts in a cart and eventually finds popularity as a musician,” explains Atif.
